Overview
King Edward VII, also known as Albert Edward, was the King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions from 1901 until his death in 1910. As the eldest son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, he was largely excluded from political influence during his mother's long reign. Despite this, he played a significant role in redefining the British monarchy and was known for his charismatic personality and love of travel. He was married to Princess Alexandra of Denmark and had six children, and his tours of North America and the Indian subcontinent were highly successful.
